Guidelines for submission

  • The Organizing Committee invites you to submit the abstracts for oral or poster presentations on the Symposium topics. After the abstracts are reviewed and accepted, authors will receive a notice of abstract acceptance and be invited to submit the fulltext manuscripts.
  • All the abstracts and manuscripts must be written in English and submitted through ROSA – Responsive Online System for Acta Horticulturae submission and review. 
  • An abstract submission charge applies to the submitting author, which partially covers the expenses for review, infrastructure overhead, hard/software maintenance, etc. Visit ISHS for more information. 
  • Abstract submission in the Symposium is fully waived for ISHS individual members. Create an ISHS user account or Check the status of your ISHS user account.
  • All oral and poster symposium presentations are eligible for publication in the proceeding if a suitable manuscript is prepared and submitted on time to the Editorial Board through ROSA. Authors of posters are welcomed to submit their manuscript for Acta Horticulturae but posters cannot be published as such.
  • To ensure a timely publication it is essential to respect the deadlines for submission.
  • Submission of a manuscript implies: that the work described has not been published before (except in form of an abstract or as part of a published lecture, review or thesis); that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere; that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as - tacitly or explicitly - by the responsible authorities at the institution where the work was carried out.
  • ISHS claims traditional copyright protection of all material published in Acta Horticulturae, except where copyright is held by a third party such as a governmental agency and, upon request, permits fair scientific use as long as the author and ISHS are credited. The authors of an Acta article are entitled to make non-commercial use of the published article within the terms as described in the ‘SPARC Author’s Addendum to Publication Agreement .
- All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the Symposium Convener. Acceptance of abstracts will be noticed on 1 March,2019.
- Criteria for abstract acceptance:
  •  Abstracts should be written in English.
  • Abstracts should be based on original work, giving full information of the objective, materials and methods and major results obtained, and should not exceed 300 words.
  • Abstracts must NOT contain tables, pictures or diagrams.
  • All abbreviations must be spelled out on first use.
  • Abstracts should be thoroughly checked for spelling (English USA) and grammar.
  • Submission is strictly limited to a maximum of one oral and one poster presentation per person.
- The maximum number of pages is 16 for invited papers and 8 for submitted oral papers and papers resulting from poster presentations. An average page of text will contain about 800 words. When papers exceed 16 or 8 pages, respectively, a charge of USD 70 for each excess page is applied. 
- All manuscripts will be evaluated by two reviewers for scientific and technical merit and correctness of the language. 
- Papers reporting results of experiments should include at least four sections: abstract; introduction; materials and methods; results and discussion. 
- Criteria for manuscript acceptance for Acta Horticulturae
  • English language is understandable.
  • Format fits ISHS guidelines.
  • Paper represents a contribution to horticulture. It is either original, confirmatory or a synthesis of information related to the theme of the Acta.
  • Information of data is correct.
  • Data should be statistically analyzed where appropriate.
  • Literature Cited should be appropriate.
